JEE Mains Paper 1&2

The JEE Main is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs).

Eligibility:

  • There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main.
  • Candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, 2022 or 2021, or appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2024 are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2024.
  • However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institutes(s) to which they are desirous of taking admission.

Exam format:

The JEE Main is a computer-based test (CBT) conducted in two sessions:

  • Session 1: was held in January 2024.
  • Session 2: was held in April 2024.

The exam consists of two papers:

  • Paper 1: This paper is mandatory for all candidates and covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • Paper 2: This paper is only for candidates who want to pursue a career in Architecture (B.Arch). It covers Mathematics, Drawing Test, Aptitude Test, and Planning.

Exam Pattern:

  • Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech):

    • Mode of Exam: Online (CBT)
    • Duration: 3 hours (4 hours for PwD candidates)
    • Number of Sections: 3 (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
    • Number of Questions: 75 (25 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
    • Question Types:
      • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with one correct answer (20 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
      • Numerical Value Type (NV) questions with a single numerical answer (10 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
    • Marking Scheme:
      • +4 marks for each correct MCQ answer
      • -1 mark for each wrong MCQ answer
      • No negative marking for NV questions
      • No marks for unattempted questions
    • Total Marks: 300
  • Paper 2 (B.Arch):

    • Mode of Exam: Online (CBT)
    • Duration: 3 hours
    • Number of Sections: 4 (Mathematics, Drawing Test, Aptitude Test, Planning)
    • Number of Questions: 100
    • Question Types:
      • Mathematics: Similar to Paper 1 with 25 questions
      • Drawing Test: Questions testing drawing ability and imagination
      • Aptitude Test: Questions assessing spatial awareness, logical reasoning, and imagination power
      • Planning: Questions related to basic architectural principles
