MHT CET Exam
The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is a state-level engineering and pharmacy entrance exam conducted by the Maharashtra State Government’s Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). It’s mandatory for students seeking admission to undergraduate engineering and pharmacy programs in various colleges and institutes affiliated with DTE Maharashtra.
Who can take MHT CET?
- Students who have passed the Class 12 (HSC) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects from a recognized board are eligible.
- There’s no minimum marks requirement for appearing in MHT CET, but securing a good score is crucial for securing admission into competitive colleges.
Exam Pattern:
- Mode of Exam: Computer-based test (CBT).
- Duration: 3 hours.
- Sections: The exam has two sections – Physics & Chemistry (combined) and Mathematics.
- Question Types: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four options for each question.
- Marking Scheme:
- +4 marks for each correct answer.
- -1 mark for each wrong answer.
- No marks are awarded for unattempted questions.
- Passing Marks: The minimum qualifying marks for MHT CET are 45% for the General category and 40% for reserved categories.
Important Dates:
- 2024: The application window for MHT CET 2024 closed in January 2024. The exam was conducted between April 22 and May 17, 2024. Results were declared on June 16, 2024.

Eligibility for Specific Courses:
- Engineering: Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in their Class 12 exam.
- Pharmacy: Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology) as mandatory subjects in their Class 12 exam.
Selection Process:
- Based on your MHT CET score, rank, and category, you’ll be eligible to participate in the centralized counseling process conducted by the DTE Maharashtra.
- During counseling, you’ll be able to choose colleges and programs based on your preferences and seat availability.
